Big Mercury Outboards Unveiled in Miami

New Verado 350 and Mercury Racing Verado 400R make their debuts at the Miami Boat Show.
Mercury’s new Verado 350 pumps up the boost pressure by 10%, and uses a new liquid-cooled supercharger to help combat the increase in intake air temperature.
The Verado 350 has specific camshaft profiles, valves and valve springs, and a reshaped cylinder head.
A new, molded flywheel cover is perforated to better vent heat away from the powerhead below and lower overall temperature under the cowl.
A new intake snorkel snakes over the top of the powerhead with its opening positioned close to the air induction port on the back of the cowl to capture the coolest air possible.
The new Mercury Racing Verado 400R is a potent replacement for the Mercury Racing Verado 350 SCi outboard.
Wide-open throttle range is 6,400 to 7,000 rpm. The Verado 400R also has the ability to run on 89-octane fuel thanks to a sophisticated new knock sensor.

Mercury Marine introduced its new Verado 350 and Mercury Racing Verado 400R outboards at the 2015 Miami Boat Show. We were fortunate enough to have access to these engines prior to the show and gathered some images and specs. Be sure to check out our full test in the April 2015 issue of Boating, and right here at boatingmag.com.
