2022 Viaggio Diamante 23Q

The Diamante 23Q gives excellent performance with all the must-haves.

For 2022, the Viaggio nameplate replaces the Misty Harbor brand, aiming at the higher end of the market while remaining price competitive. For example, the 23Q bristles with standards and detailed touches, and also provides an excellent value. At an as-tested price of just under $97,000, this Viaggio gives excellent performance with all the must-haves.

First, it’s quick. With a Mercury Verado 250, we ran the 23Q to a 46 mph top speed, and accelerated to 30 mph in just 6.4 seconds. Best cruise was 3,000 rpm and 19 mph, burning 5 gph for 3.1 mpg, good for 155 miles, or a whole weekend’s worth of fun. The sound level at that speed is a whisper-quiet 68.5 dB(A).

Handling proved predictable and flat when cornering, and it was smooth, without stuttering or being swallowed when traversing wind chop and wakes. That performance comes from the optional triple 25-inch ’toons with lifting strakes—one each on the insides of the outer tubes, and on both sides of the center tube.

The interior layout in the bow features two facing curved lounges upholstered in bright-white and gray vinyl, with an aggressive blue accent in the center of each seat. A removable snack table mounts in between. This makes for a roomy gathering pit for six without crowding. Amidships, the control console separates the four swivel high-back captain’s chairs, which provide a second conversation place that includes the captain. A deckwide aft couch rounds out the interior seating. The lounges are all set atop roto-molded bases, with dual-hinged bottom cushions for easy storage access beneath.

The driver’s console features a 3-inch riser with a molded-in footrest. The dash features a Veethree 5-inch multiple gauge cluster and a center-mounted Simrad digital GPS, chart plotter and engine monitoring system. A Rockford Fosgate PMX-2 receiver sound system upgrade with the amp and speaker package provides more than adequate sound.

Abaft, a blackout powder-coated perimeter fence with a swing gate gives access to the extended stern deck, with a stainless-steel ski tow and boarding ladder included in the Platinum package.
