2023 Invincible 46 Pilothouse

The 46 Pilothouse makes long-range fishing comfortable.

Leave it to Invincible Boats to expand the boundaries of the catamaran fishing boat with the largest pilothouse model we’ve seen to date. In the 46, the feel of a Morrelli & Melvin hybrid asymmetrical catamaran brings the best attributes of symmetrical cats and asymmetrical cats together. What are they? A steady, smooth ride in rough seas, comfortable secure maneuvering in turns, efficiency and at-rest stability. We experienced all this during our recent test.

It carries enough fuel for the quad Mercury Racing 450R outboards to make 600 miles in range, meaning anglers can overnight in the Gulf or travel to the canyons or beyond the Stream and return with four fish boxes of iced tuna and mahi.

Stay out as long as you wish; there’s sleeping for four on board in the convertible salon lounge and the compartment below. A head compartment, sink, shower and ample water capacity mean long-range fishing is comfortable. An abbreviated galley is equipped with a standard microwave, and an option for an ice maker and refrigerator is available. The cooler beneath the mezzanine seat is fitted with a chill plate that froze our water bottles in short order.

Pilothouses typically bring a ton of features indoors, and ours was cozy with Release Marine captain’s chairs and the aft U-shaped lounge. You could delete the aft row of captain’s chairs and extend the lounge for a roomier feel. We ran the air conditioning on our tester, but the pilothouse opens up nicely with port and starboard sliding doors, helm and passenger sliding windows, and a power-sliding window on the aft bulkhead that opens the cockpit to the cabin.

Dual 60-gallon livewells, one in-floor livewell at 70 gallons, and a sea chest with six pumps keep ample bait alive. A rigging station folds out of the mezzanine seatback, and rod holders around the gunwales are well-placed. Six shotgun rod holders on the transom will prove ideal for storage and rigging.

Invincible’s entrée into the pilothouse arena will be tough to beat, and the 46 will make owners proud.

High Points

  • Forward lounge can accommodate up to three sunbathers.
  • Seatback settee in front of that lounge lifts to extend the lounge and reveal a porthole for the forward berth.
