Boston Whaler takes a new view with its Vantage series line of sporty dual consoles. The 230 Vantage delivers versatile family dayboating while retaining the brand’s offshore build quality.

The 230 clips along at more than 50 mph on a single 300 hp Mercury Verado outboard, netting 2.7 miles per gallon — an efficient craft.

It wouldn’t be a Whaler if it didn’t fish, and the 230 Vantage comes standard with four rod holders, plus it offers livewell and dual transom rod-holder options. But where it shines is the way it accommodates a simple day of boating by maximizing comfortable and convertible seating features.

The passenger console is fitted with a double-wide seat. But it converts five ways, with the flip of a lever. Positions range from a forward-facing leaning post with an aft-facing lounge, back-to-back ski-observation seats, full-length sun pad, and forward-facing lounge. Hardware is polished stainless steel.

Whaler’s creativity in crafting a transom seat that includes a perfectly inclined backrest that stows away, opening the aft deck for fishing, is sure to be copied.

For beaching up, order the optional bow ladder. If you spend more time on the hook, the optional anchor-chute windlass is an ideal addition. Bow-seating cushions stow away, leaving the deck clear for angling adventures.

The 230 and its sister 270 make ideal tenders for the yachting crowd but can easily stand on their own giving plenty of boating fun.
