Sometimes “cool” trumps everything else in the world of boats. Malibu’s new Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V boat is as cool as they come, plain and simple. It’s the second time Malibu and GM have partnered on a muscle boat (late 1996 was the other time), and we expect this edition to sell as quickly as the first.
The Z06 model is powered by a 505-horsepower engine, and the Coupe gets 400 ponies. Performance numbers weren’t available at press time, but realistically we expect the boats to have some go to match the show.
An enclosed bow extends to a cockpit encased by an automotive-style windshield with side panels that actually roll down. The dashboard looks like the one found in a ‘Vette, with a center-mounted sound system that’s easy to use. Also carried over from the modern-day hot rod are the Corvette driver’s seat, Duraguard vinyl, keyless ignition, two banks of switches with built-in LCD screens, gauges that can be dimmed to three different settings and a stern panel with four taillights that look just like the taillights of a Corvette car. The boat will have a limited run, which means a premium price. The Coupe retails for $82,700 and the Z06 for $102,000.
