A picture of Scout’s 320 LXF would serve as the definition of “luxury sport-fisher” in any dictionary: Our day aboard revealed as many angling accouterments as luxury appointments. The finest upholstery, gorgeous trim, powder-coating on all metal that isn’t polished stainless steel, and unique design features elevate Scout into a rarified niche.

In the bow, removable, modular pods aft of each forward seat provide space for a sink, stowage and tackle drawers portside. An optional Kenyon grill that runs off an inverter hides in the starboard module along with more stowage. Aft backrests on both seats rise on electric rams. Control the through-stem anchor and windlass with foredeck buttons or from the helm.

Scout’s D-shaped structural console and T-top framework add sleek style that lowers wind resistance. The standard helm seating is twin swiveling captain’s chairs with armrests. Another signature Scout design element is a shallow stowage locker on the side of the console that houses mops, gaffs, hanging line coils, brushes, etc. Inside, Scout provides a fixed head, an electrical distribution panel and a single berth. Scout also offers the gorgeous Brisa and Italia upholstery upgrade packages.

There are angling accouterments galore.The aft cockpit is wide open and self-bails through large scuppers. Besides helping to make the boat safe, the scuppers allow keeping the sole slime-free and clean by using the standard washdown hose. There are six flush-mount rod holders, port and starboard fish boxes and a livewell built into the leaning post. All are standard.

The 320 LXF rides Scout’s revolutionary NuV3 hull. This is a convex design, comprised of variable deadrise degree angles, that improves fuel efficiency and delivered a soft, dry ride for our test crew. We’ve run boats with this proven technology before, and on test day the 320 LXF delivered a top speed of 59 mph. Seas were running about 3 feet during our test, with the wind blowing 20 knots, yet the 320 LXF exhibited a very stable rolling moment with the kind of easy transitions that allow a crew to stay at the fishing game all day if need be.
