Stepping aboard Sea Ray’s 450 Sedan Bridge, I bypassed the spacious cockpit and didn’t even peek through the glass sliders into the salon. The urge to climb the steps to the flying bridge, and gain the commanding view of the water that it affords, is a compelling one. This bridge sports a full curtain enclosure that blends nicely into the hardtop and provides climate control when you order the optional bridge air conditioning. A solid fiberglass hatch seals the stairwell for safety, lowering softly on a gas strut. It also kept sound levels down while the twin joystick-controlled Zeus drives powered me along at speeds of more than 34 mph.
Below decks, I swept the salon doors aside, and was swept away. Two steps up puts you in a cozy dinette. Four steps down and you’re in the galley. A passageway forward leads to the master stateroom with island berth and its own head. There’s also a day-head to port. The head shower spigot was high enough for a 6-foot-2-inch cruiser. Folding doors protect the rest of the compartment from overspray. Similar comfort awaits the captain in the forward stateroom’s private shower. No space is underutilized and no convenience is forgotten, as demonstrated by the front-loading washer/dryer under the salon steps. The 450 Sedan Bridge sports a portside guest stateroom. This space includes twin berths and a locker, offering privacy and comfort for another couple.
Ergonomics aren’t reserved for luxury alone. Safety’s considered too. On deck, I headed forward on ample walkways and found a handrail located every place you’d need one. The engine room is also arranged with the owner in mind. There’s easy access to commonly serviced components like sea strainers and plumbing manifolds.
With these amenities, this boat is built for passengers’ luxury cruising, allowing the captain to enjoy the position of power, running from on high, afforded the owner of Sea Ray’s 450 Sedan Bridge.
