Silver Wave 220 Play

Although built solid as a tank, the 220 Play’s interior combines elegance and comfort.

This stylish pontoon combines luxurious decking with durable construction and a smooth, quiet ride.

It’s a tough time to start a new business, but two boatbuilding families have teamed up to make waves in the pontoon market.

Silver Wave pontoon boats combine the talents of the Parks family — the makers of Blue Wave Boats bay boats — with the Nickell family, who have been building pontoon boats for more than 25 years. The two families have made a commitment to building a top-quality pontoon with great value backed by personal service — and their first wave of boats seems to be right on the mark.

The Silver Wave 220 Play we tested ran at a maximum speed of 26.4 mph, and throughout the ride we were able to hold a conversation without having to raise our voices. The boat’s 25-inch-diameter round pontoons cut through the water easily, which gave us a smooth ride, while the under-deck spray deflectors ensured a dry cruise as well.

Quality construction is evident everywhere on this craft, with its double-bolted main cross-members, and the deck is fastened through the hat brackets with stainless-steel bolts, ensuring solid durability. The boat is also equipped with stainless-steel rub rails, and even the cup holders, console trim and table base plate are fastened with stainless bolts.

Although built solid as a tank, the 220 Play’s interior combines elegance and comfort, with heavy-duty vinyl upholstery covering the multidensity foam of the chaise lounge seating and L-shaped couch, a reclining, sliding and swiveling captain’s seat, and a fiberglass console with built-in entertainment center.

There’s storage in a compartment under the steering wheel, and ventilation in the storage under the chaise lounges prevents mildew.
