Starcraft Majestic 256 Starlounger

Discover three distinct gathering areas aboard this pontoon.

The Starlounger boasts extras befitting a brand flagship. Bow and stern, low-maintenance PlasTeak decking adds a touch of class, while blue LED lighting gives everything from cup holders to the water below the deck a stylish glow. The 28-ounce sculptured carpet is tough yet elegant. Cleats are pop-ups, which lower to prevent snags. The beefy, protective rub rail is fabricated of stainless steel.

It’s the finer aspects of the boat’s construction, however, that truly get our nod of approval. Seat cushions pivot out on two-part hinges to lie flat and out of the way when accessing stowage areas. Rotocast seat bases, covered in vinyl, are durable and almost maintenance-free. That faux-teak decking replaces carpet in a spot that’s often wet.

Majestic designers gave the boat three individual “conversation pits.” Forward, traditional loungers occupy the starboard and port sides; a pop-up changing room is tucked out of sight at the end of the latter. Opposite the helm, a small bench gives the captain company. Aft, two rear-facing lounges round out the 14-passenger capacity.

Performance? With a Yamaha F150, we never lost sight of the horizon during the boat’s 3.6-second time to plane. Top speed averaged 30.4 mph.
