Tahoe Vista 2285 Cruise

On the surface, the Vista 2285 Cruise looks a little different from the norm. Rather than using the more common exposed perimeter fencing, the manufacturer covers it behind embossed, exterior panels for a cleaner, more streamlined aesthetic. A stainless-steel rub rail carries your eyes, and the lines, fore to aft, breaking up subtly different color tones with art deco flair. Exterior vents hint at more change below the surface. Rather than the ever-present roto-molded plastic seat bases, Tahoe opts for welded aluminum frames. Water can’t collect, ventilation flows freely, and owners get maximum use of the space below. Compartments feature a rubber bottom matting to cushion items within. That mat’s woven structure further promotes drainage and ventilation.

The Vista’s layout places a priority on lounge-style seating. Forward, parallel benches span the port and starboard sides, each culminating in a forward-facing backrest. At the attractive, raised fiberglass helm, a high-back captain’s chair reclines for comfort. Aft, an L-shaped lounge spans the port side and a portion of the stern. A pedestal-mount table spins to keep refreshments at the ready for all. Aft, a raised 5-foot-8-inch by 2-foot sun pad sits outside the fence, inviting sunbathing while beached or enjoying the water while anchored, and conceals a pop-up changing room below. From bow to stern, an optional vinyl floor covering with a stylishly nautical, weathered-teak pattern embossed upon it proved an attractive, durable and easier-to-maintain alternative to carpet.

Tahoe equipped the Vista with its optional Waveglider high-performance pontoon system and full aluminum underskin. Designed to be equally competent in calm or rough environments, the Waveglider upgrade features triple 25-inch-diameter pontoons with extruded lifting strakes for higher speeds, SeaStar hydraulic steering for more control, and a 42-gallon fuel tank integrated into the center pontoon for increased range underway. The addition of the center pontoon also makes possible an expansive, in-floor ski locker. Upon inspection, we deem this locker large enough to swallow a large complement of water-sports equipment. With a Yamaha 225 V Max SHO engine providing the motive force, the Vista 2285 Cruise literally leapt onto plane in a scant 2.9 seconds, en route to a maximum speed of 49.3 mph.
