Body Glove 3T Barefoot

The Body Glove 3T Barefoot is a do-all shoe for active boaters.

Along with a series of professional surfers, beach volleyball players and a world champion stand-up paddleboard rider, I got an advance pair of the Body Glove 3T Barefoots to wear and test early last year. These boat shoes are different, I’ll grant you. In fact, “shoe for boaters” might technically make a better appellation than boat shoe.

Getting my toes to line up was tough the first time I wore them. After that, the 3T Barefoots sort of form-fitted, proving easy on and easy off. As advertised, they are nearly as comfortable as bare feet. I wore them while driving my truck, plodding across shell-paved parking lots, wading the shallows and fishing. The 3T Barefoots drained immediately, provided great grip and, though a bit faded after one season’s use, are basically no worse for the wear. I’d recommend them as a do-all shoe for active boaters, with the caveat that they don’t provide the protection against errant fishhooks or stubbed toes you’d get from a sneaker or traditional moccasin. $49.99; bodyglove.com
