The new, popularly sized Ri217 from Centurion combines world-championship level tow-boat performance with posh seating for up to 14 people. Upholstery work is second to none.

The Ri217’s V-hull slices though rough water for a smoother ride. Deploy the Centurion Stinger Wake Plate for maximum performance on a choppy day.

Other wave-enhancing features include the ability to add 4,950 pounds of ballast (including the available Plug and Play ballast system). The Centurion Ramfill system floods the ballast in a matter of minutes. The available QuickSurf Pro gives you the ability to surf a finely tuned wave on either side of the boat. Simply turn on the QuickSurf Pro system and choose right or left.

The adjustable Centurion Articulation Tracking System (CATS) helps keep the boat tracking the way you want. Thanks to the Side by Side (SxS) HD Touch Vision dash, the driver can control and monitor all systems on the Ri217.

Our crew surfed the Ri217 with three people aboard and the Ramfill and Plug and Play ballast systems full. The center tank was filled to 25 percent and QuickSurf was set in the default position. The CATS was set at zero.

“Like its Ri237 big brother, the Ri217 has insane ballast capacity — nearly 5,000 pounds,” says tester Emily Dale of Wakeboarding magazine. “For any tow boat, that’s a crazy number, but especially for a boat that’s less than 22 feet.” With tanks that large, you don’t even need to fill them up completely to get a nice swell, Dale says.

The wave wasn’t quite as large as the Ri237 wave, she says, but it was just as powerful. “It was really strong, even at the end of the pocket, and it was really cool how far back we could ride behind this boat,” Dale says.

She likens the smoothness and consistency of the waves behind this boat to those created by the world’s best surfboats, and that puts the Ri217 in a truly stratospheric class.
