A Cruiser and a Dayboat At FLIBS

2014 Sea Ray Fly Bridge, SLX debut.

2014 Sea Ray Debuts at FLIBS

It wasn’t so long ago that Boating was sending editors on the water to test two new Sea Ray boats a month. Every month. And we did that for years, as Sea Ray maintained its position as one of the most prolific builders of new boat models the world has ever seen.

At the 2013 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Sea Ray is debuting a new 510 Fly Bridge and a 350 SLX. I am excited to see– and sea trial– both boats. The 510 Fly Bridge is built upon a new hull, and we’ll have the full test results for you in the not too distant future.

The 350 SLX is Sea Ray’s entry into what we have been calling around the office the “Mega Bowrider” segment. Combining a big water hull, an open topside plan and weekend accommodations for a couple belowdecks, the 350 SLX joins the ranks of builders like Cobalt, Chaparral, Cruisers Yachts, Formula, Monterey and Regal.

We’ll be running a feature article pitting many of these Mega Bowriders against each other. Until then, you can see them side-by-side (almost) by hitting a boat show, like the one that starts this week in Fort Lauderdale.
