While most performance-boat manufacturers have turned to building center-consoles to keep their doors open, DCB Performance Boats is still turning out high-performance catamarans to customers across the country.
Recently, the El Cajon, California-based manufacturer delivered a bright yellow M35 cat powered by Mercury Racing 1100s with NXT Six drives to a customer in New York. Top speed is estimated at 160 mph at 6,450 rpm. The 35′ long wide-body hull has a beam of 9’7″ and it weighs 9,250 pounds. The cockpit has two seats up front with centrally positioned controls, and four individual buckets in the rear. Retail price with a trailer is approximately $685,000.
DCB also has another M35 in the works with a little different approach. It’s a bowrider with a full walk-through. Powered by twin Mercury Racing 565s, the boat has a top speed around 95 mph. The company is also putting together an M31 with Mercury Racing 700 SCis that will have an estimated top speed of 130 mph. The projected retail price for each boat is $485,000.
