The biggest performance boating event in the Southwest, the 2017 Desert Storm Poker Run will start on May 2, 2017, and extend through the May 7, with the poker run taking place on Friday, May 6. The 2017 version will be produced by Lake Racer LLC and DSM Events LLC, with title sponsor Spectre Powerboats, presenting sponsor Shugrue’s Restaurant Group and help from the Lake Havasu City Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The week starts with a meet-and-greet at the Pirate Cove Resort in Park Moab, California, on Tuesday followed by the fifth annual Krusin’ for Kids, where underprivileged and special-needs kids get rides on some of the coolest high-performance boats on the water. That evening, there will be a silent and live auction to raise money for event charities. On Thursday, McCulloch Boulevard will host the popular Street Party, which has become a great showcase for boats and engines from some of the biggest names in the performance-boat industry.
On Friday morning, the poker run takes place and starts with the popular Parade of Power at 10 a.m. through the London Bridge Channel. Five card stops are open from 10:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and there will be a photo station from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Cards will be drawn Friday evening, and on Saturday, the fastest boats will line up for the Desert Storm Shootout.
