Boat-Show Electronics: Shop ’Til You Drop

The 2013 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show features the hottest new marine electronics.

Make some time later this week to check in at Boatingmag.com and our Facebook page for our live coverage of the Fort Lauderdale Boat International Show (Oct. 31-Nov. 4). We’ll have editors roaming the show venues, reporting on new boats, marine equipment and electronics introductions as they occur. I’ll be focusing on the hottest new electronics – based on what I’ve heard so far, there’ll be a bunch of new units and systems debuting during the show.

Speaking of electronics, you’ll even be able to track our paths around the show on a special map at Boatingmag.com/flibs, as each of us will be carrying DeLorme inReach SE satellite communicator, which will also serve as Wi-Fi hotspots for our live reports.

Of course, you can attend this famous South Florida boat show yourself. It’s a great opportunity to see and price-shop for boats and accessories, especially marine electronics. You might not choose to buy a new system at the show, but you can visit exhibits of brands such as Furuno, Garmin, Icom, Raymarine, Standard Horizon and many others to see and demo the latest products, with company representatives on hand to answer questions.

Then you can shop the same items at the many marine electronics retailers at the show. That will help narrow down your choices.

Whether you attend the show or not, make sure to check in at Boatingmag.com as often as possible to learn the latest. Or follow our reports on Facebook.
