Looking to sell? In a crowded boat market, you need to think outside the conventional box and make your boat stand out from the pack:
Shine it up. It isn't just for appearance's sake. The degree of cleanliness shows how much care the current owner has given the boat over time. A wash and wax are obvious, but don't overlook cabins, lockers and stowage areas. Clean and deodorize with bleach to eliminate musty smells.
Remove all gear. Cabins and stowage areas will look twice as roomy. Likewise, remove anything — chart plotter, life raft, etc. — not being sold with the boat.
Think exposure. Pictures in ads work best. If the boat can be trailered, consider finding an available lot on a busy corner and trailer it there, adding a prominent for-sale sign.
Offer protection. If it's still available, price out a transferable extended warranty, and advertise its availability for an increased price. If the buyer wants it, buy and transfer. If not, save your money.
