Boating Fail: Maiden Voyage Mishap

Sinking a $2.5 million yacht at the ramp is no way to christen it.

Boat long enough and eventually you’ll screw up at the launch ramp. Hopefully, it isn’t bad enough to sink your boat on its maiden voyage. That’s exactly what happened to the S.S. Jiugang when the crew in charge of the airbag launch made a miscalculation and the yacht, reportedly worth $2.5 million, partially sank. Perhaps they made one of the most common mistakes: forgetting to install the drain plug. Extreme boat launches are hairy enough, but sometimes it’s the simple ones that cause the most problems.
