The Desert Storm Poker Run was a busy event for introductions. Mercury Racing also pulled the sheet off a new stainless-steel propeller, the Lab Finished MAX5. This five-blade propeller was developed for the new Verado 400R outboard in single- and multi-engine applications. It provides up to 12 percent reduction in propeller slip in some applications, and MAX5 wheels were on the 39-foot Nor-Tech center console that ran 101 mph with four Mercury Racing Verado 400Rs. The MAX5 has a 15-inch diameter and is offered in pitch ranges from 23 to 34 inches in half-inch increments. Mercury uses these increments to ensure that an owner can dial-in his or her maximum rpm operating range for enhanced throttle response, optimized cruising efficiency and top speed. The propeller features Mercury’s patented performance vent system (PVS), which lets the propeller ventilate to improve acceleration and planing times. MSRP is $2,048.61.
