We last wrote about the Mermaids of Weeki Wachee, Florida in a feature story published in 2005. (Before that we featured these crystal clear waters and the mermaids that ply them in an August 1999 article) Its the deepest naturally-formed spring in the United States, with a depth surveyed to 285 feet by divers.
SInce we were last there, the mermaid we interviewed swam on to greener grottos, the state of Florida has taken over the springs as an attraction, and Mashable created this great story about the mermaids that perform for tourists.
