Yamaha Marine invited the boating media to Baltimore, Maryland to see and test-drive its latest in outboard power. Boats ranged from center consoles with dual engines to bay, flats, bass and pontoon boats with single engines.
2017 Yamaha F350 Outboard
Yamaha’s 350c, the world’s only V-8 four stroke outboard, generates 350 horsepower and since its introduction in 2007, it has changed the way boat builders design vessels for fishing and cruising. The latest model boats a slight weigh loss of about 75 lbs. but more important, Yamaha has bulked up the warranty giving boats five full years of factory coverage.
We ran a pair of F350’s, installed on an Everglades 325 topped 53 miles per hour at 5900 RPM. For comfortable trolling, its low speed sound levels were a low murmur at between 68- and 78-db.
Yamaha continues to expand their line of proprietary propellers, too and focused on the Talon line for 2017. For pontoons, the new Talons boast the SDS hub that eliminates clunking in gear and minimizes vibration often experienced at certain trolling speeds. In our test of the Veranda, we never actually experienced any noticeable vibration, attesting to its successful design.
