Mercury Racing Pro Finish and Lab Finish props cost $1,600 to $6,000 and are hand-finished by a select crew of artisans who take a lot of pride in their very precise work, and so like any artist each takes ownership by signing the finished product. Until recently a finished Mercury Racing propeller was stamped inside the barrel with a code that indicated the date the prop was finished and the technician that did the work. Today, to recognize the skill and effort of these very experienced “prop grinders,” each is stamping his initials in the prop barrel.
