As reported by numerous sources including speedonthewater.com, an accident on Georgia’s Lake Lanier claimed four lives after a 38′ Skater catamaran built by Douglas Marine of Douglas, Mich., flipped on Friday, July 15.

The accident took place the day before the annual Pirates of Lanier Poker run in Buford, Ga.

The Skater 388 was owned by Art McMahan of Mount Washington, Ken., and was traveling at a high rate of speed at approximately 4 p.m. when it flipped in a turn and ejected all four people on board. McMahan, 46, his wife, Melissa, 45 and friends Anthony, 44, and Tammy Reece, 44, of Columbia, Ken., were all killed in the accident. The Reeces were well known performance boaters who own the 42’ Statement Marine V-bottom, Saddle-Up. Our condolences to the families.
