Introduced at the 2015 Progressive Miami International Boat Show, the Mercury Racing 1550 is a 6,800 rpm wolf in sheep’s clothing.
This new big block features dual calibration from an electronic key fob. Using the fob — a USB drive, really — to manage the engine’s advanced control system, operators can turn a 1,350 hp engine that runs great on 91 octane fuel into a 1,550 hp beast burning 112 AKI race fuel. Both fuel calibrations provide maximum torque and efficiency. All of this from a 552 cid engine that features sequential fuel injection with a Mercury Racing Dry-Sump Hydraulic transmission and Dry Sump M8R drive.
