It has a built-in recharcheable battery when you have access to power. When you don’t, turn the crank handle. One minute of cranking provides 15 minutes of bright light from the center LED. It also has two small outer lights, and the center bulb can function as a strobe. While it doesn’t have enough candlepower to serve as a navigation aid in picking up inlet markers after dark, it’s great for finding your way around the boat at night.
