Chasing Yellowfin Tuna

Yellowfin tuna often associate with dolphins. Run-and-gun to score this summer.

Look Offshore
Look 10 to 50 miles offshore to find dolphin pods and tuna. Pods set a fast pace, usually heading up-sea.

Live Baits
Cast nose-hooked live sardines. If all goes right, you’ll quickly hook up. Chumming may keep tuna near, or resume the chase to catch more.

Get Ahead
Yellowfin travel ahead of the dolphins. Look for seabirds above the tuna. Put your boat 200 feet in front of the flock.
