SI-TEX Marine Electronics has added a new product to its popular Metadata Series of advanced AIS products for boaters — the new-for-2017 SI-TEX MDA-4. This advanced VHF-FM/DSC marine radiotelephone provides mariners with professional-grade communications features and the added safety and convenience of a built-in high-performance AIS Dual Channel Receiver.
The MDA-4’s dual-channel AIS receives all Class A and Class B AIS ship info and provides an AIS target display including MMSI, Call Sign, Ship’s Name, Bearing, Distance, Speed Over Ground and Course Over Ground. For added safety in crowded waterways, the MDA-4 also provides AIS alerts for Closest Point of Approach and Time to Closest Point of Approach. Navigation information including Lat/Lon, Time, Date, Speed Over Ground and Course Over Ground are also shown on the easy-to-read display.
The MDA-4 is ruggedized to Military Specification MIL-STD-801G* — so it can withstand the harshest conditions found at sea and is an ideal choice for recreational vessels, workboats and commercial applications. Designed for easy integration with chartplotters, radar and other onboard systems using NMEA2000 or NMEA0183 connections, the MDA-4 is an integral component for any modern helm station.
This DSC radio delivers clear, reliable communications, even in the most challenging conditions and situations. It provides navigators with all US, Canadian and International channel sets with Weather Watch, along with advanced monitoring functions like Dual Watch, Tri-Watch and Programmable Scanning. The MDA-4's robust design includes a large dot-matrix LCD display, easy-to-use rotary menu control and built-in 25W loud hailer/foghorn with eight selectable modes and listen back for added safety.
An optional Remote Command Microphone bundle includes a full-function control/mic, bulkhead connector, mounting clip and 12 meters of cable for operation at a second station location. An optional GNSS
66-channel Smart GPS Antenna is also available if the operator chooses not to tie in to the vessel’s other GPS sensors.
This advanced radio is available to mariners now and completes the popular SI-TEX Metadata AIS product family that also includes the MDA-1 Class B AIS Transceiver, MDA-2 Dual Channel AIS Receiver, and MDA-3 AIS Antenna Splitter.
Like every product from SI-TEX Marine Electronics, the new MDA-4 is backed by the company's Two-Year Warranty and easily accessible Long Island, New York-based service department. For more information, contact SI-TEX Marine Electronics at (631) 996-2690 or visit online website at www.si-tex.com.
